Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitar player. She also sings. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Alongside receiving nine Grammy nominations and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to present at and perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a scholar and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her early years were spent in London in London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very remarkable career in the field of recording and performing. She has been accompanying her father on stage for many years. The singer has released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live in Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She has performed in a variety of famous venues around the globe. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't only limited to music. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career will keep on growing. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth between London as well as Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and attended the high school there. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday she made her debut playing the sitar in front of an audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire numerous valuable experience when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival in addition to recording with George Harrison. The youngest female to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within music and the Asian Arts.
